In 2014, Citi partnered with Earn to Learn and LeadLocal, which delivers leadership coaching and professional development experiences for young professionals and high potential students who have the drive to grow and the passion to contribute, to develop a peer-mentor program for Earn to Learn students.

“The program has been a game-changer for Earn to Learn students,” says Kate Hoffman, Earn to Learn Executive Director. “Pairing students with mentors of similar age and background helps them tap into the grit and determination needed to persist in college, and to see that anything is possible.”

“Peer mentors benefit, too,” says Minh, who participated in the program this past year. “As a first generation college student who struggled with funding issues, too, I just wanted to help others like me get education for a better life.”

“This program enables us to support post-secondary education while also getting kids ready for the real-world work experience we expect as employers,” says Jason. “This kind of collaboration is a no-brainer.”
