APS CTE Scholarship: A Partnership with Earn to Learn

The APS CTE Scholarship is a unique, fully funded opportunity made possible through a partnership between Arizona Public Service (APS) and Earn to Learn (ETL). It’s designed to support students pursuing fast-track, high-demand careers through eligible Career and Technical Education (CTE) certificate programs.

Now available at Central Arizona College, Yavapai College, and Arizona Western College, this scholarship helps remove financial barriers for students enrolled in CTE programs that align with Arizona’s workforce needs.

The APS CTE Scholarship empowers students to complete industry-recognized training, connect to potential career pathways—including those with APS—and make a lasting impact in their communities.

APS Eligibility Requirements:

  • Be an Arizona resident
  • Be 18 Years or older
  • Have a clean driving record
  • Submit a FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR)
  • Be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Have a high School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Attend an information session via Zoom
  • Provide a current resume

Earn To Learn Eligibility Requirements:

  • Complete Financial Literacy training
  • Attend at least 1 educational webinar
  • Meet the $500 savings goal, deposited into a matched-savings account

  • Arizona Western College:
    • Basic Electrical – CERT Occupational Certificate
    • Electrical Technology – CERT Occupational Certificate
    • Electrical for Manufacturing – CERT Occupational Certificate
    • Electrical Technology Apprenticeship – CERT Occupational Certificate
  • Central Arizona College
    • Commercial Electrician Installer
  • Yavapai Community College
    • Electric Utility Lineworker Program

Additional Notes:

  • The application step is not complete until you’ve uploaded your resume. Resumes are an opportunity to express your committed interest in the APS CTE Scholarship and to show personal examples of the values you share in relation to the field. Limited work experience will not be a deterrent in the scholarship selection process.
  • This scholarship is a partnership between APS and the Earn to Learn Scholarship Program and supports potential applicants by following the Earn to Learn scholarship model. Students will be expected to complete financial literacy components, along with meeting a $500 savings goal (deposited into a matched-savings account), that is then matched by Earn To Learn with a $4,000 scholarship.
  • This program is in partnership with Arizona Western College, Central Arizona College and Yavapai College. Selected students must enroll one of the associated programs based on their college of attendance for the semester selected to receive the scholarship. 
  • APS will select students who meet these criteria and offer them the opportunity to participate in the program as well as receive the Earn To Learn scholarship.

Earn to Learn will not tolerate the following:

  • Abusive, harassing, discriminating, and/or obscene language or gestures.
  • Assault, verbal abuse, or threat of physical harm to a student, Earn to Learn employee/partner, or another person.
  • Forgery of school related documents, falsifying information to school authorities, Earn to Learn, or a financial partner.

Any violation will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by Earn to Learn leadership. Consequences may include a student’s immediate removal from any or all programs.
