A Legacy of Heroism and Hope: Scholarships in Honor of Alan Justin Krauss
Earn to Learn is honored to announce scholarship funding made possible through a gift given in memory of Alan Justin Krauss, a man whose life was defined by resilience, humility, and service to others.
Alan’s story began with an act of extraordinary heroism. At just eight years old, he lost his father, a Boy Scout leader, who gave his life rescuing a young Scout from drowning. Though his father did not survive, his bravery was recognized with the Andrew Carnegie Medal of Heroism, an honor Alan cherished throughout his life. That moment inspired Alan’s lifelong commitment to courage, compassion, and lifting others up.
Education was central to Alan’s journey. With the help of scholarships, he attended the University of Michigan, where he excelled in diving and gymnastics and discovered a deep passion for literature. He passed on his love of learning and dedication to hard work to his children, who achieved remarkable accomplishments of their own.
Alan’s career reflected his perseverance and humility. He rose from the assembly line to become President of Delta Faucet, always guided by the belief that true leadership meant uplifting others.
In his legacy, Alan directed a portion of his estate to the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education, an organization committed to expanding educational opportunities for underserved students with the guiding belief that “With Education, There is Hope.” In honoring Alan’s wishes, the foundation chose to extend his legacy by supporting Earn to Learn scholarships.
This generous support ensures that more students will have the resources they need to pursue their dreams, carrying forward Alan’s spirit of determination and his belief in the transformative power of education.
We are deeply grateful to Alan’s family and to the Andre Agassi Foundation for Education for entrusting Earn to Learn with this legacy of hope.
