What is the Next Steps Program?

The Next Steps Program guides high school students through their “next steps” to continue their education. Our Next Steps Advisors will support students as they make the transition from high school to post-secondary pathways, helping them through the complex steps toward post-secondary enrollment, admission, and the financial aid process.

WHAT’S THE IMPACT?

Statewide, during the 2022 – 2023 academic year:

  • 40 Next Steps Advisors, 48% increase from last year
  • 18,821 hours spend supporting students statewide
  • 30 participating host sites
  • 2,030 students helped through individual appointments
  • 2,122 total student interactions

66% FAFSA completion rate at participating high schools vs. the average rate in Arizona which is 31% FAFSA completion.

The Next Steps Program recruits, trains and deploys college students to provide college access advising to high school students located in communities who want to increase their college-going rates. Advisors will support students as they make the transition from high school to postsecondary pathways, helping them through the complex steps toward postsecondary enrollment, admission and the financial aid process.
