Who am I?

Gabriela Amavizca, a welcomed addition to Earn to Learn since August 2023, often finds herself saying, “It sounds too good to be true, but it is true,” as she passionately describes the impactful work she engages in to friends and family. Drawing from a rich educational background, including a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education and previous experience at Cochise College’s TRIO Student Support Services (a valued community college partner of Earn to Learn in Southern Arizona), Gabriela possesses a deep understanding of the challenges faced by low-income, first-generation students.

In her role as the Director of Scholarship and Workforce Development, Gabriela makes student success her utmost priority. Her commitment is a cornerstone in assisting students as they navigate their academic journeys, diligently working to eliminate the myriad of barriers that can arise during the pursuit of higher education.

As a proud Arizona native, Gabriela takes immense pride in supporting local students as they strive to achieve their goals. Her dedication and passion contribute significantly to Earn to Learn’s mission of empowering students and fostering a community where educational dreams become tangible realities.

Areas of expertise:

• Collaborate with leadership team to set strategic goals and objectives for the organization
• Design and plan the program, including the creation and implementation of program policy, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and productivity, and improving quality of services
• Lead the department, providing guidance, information, training, professional development opportunities, and regular feedback to program staff
• Create departmental objectives, goals, and budget based on organizational strategic objectives
